Sleepy Eyed Jay & Chicago Slim

Sleepy Eyed Jay & Chicago Slim – “Gotta Woman (Live @ The 24th Annual Carolina Blues Festival 2010)
Sleepy and Slim (JohnJay and Shane Parch) are founding members of popular Richmond, VA based band The Bush League. Sleepy and Slim have been playing together for over two years and have meshed Slim’s love of traditional Delta blues with Jay’s gospel tinged vocals to breathe new life and passion in to long forgotten tunes by some of the founding fathers of the blues, while always paying respect to the art and the artist.
Forming in late 2009 to compete in Greensboro, NC  for the International Blues Challenge (IBC) hosted by the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society(PBPS), they won a berth in the 2010 IBC solo/duo challenge in Memphis, TN.  Two nights of performance’s at The Pig on Beale Street left a mark on the blues world as this duo re-introduced their audiences back to the essence of ‘The Blues’.  Since winning the competition, the PBPS booked Sleepy & Slim at the Asheboro Fall Festival in 2009, the 24th Annual Carolina Blues Festival with The Debbie Davies Band & Robin Rogers, Tinsley Ellis, The Charlley Ward Band & The Matt Walsh Band, and had them open for blues legend Duke Robillard.  They’ve also made their mark locally in Richmond, VA gigging around town, most notably at Ashland Coffee & Tea’s Listening Room, and Capital Ale House’s Music Hall.
You can catch the duo occasionally at a The Bush League show, but more gigs may be in the future…  ?   Stay tuned!
