We got word yesterday from Betsie Brown/ Blind Raccoon that our music video for the first single and song from our album James RiVAH, “River’s Edge” is nominated for a 2018 Independent Blues Award in the Best Music Video category! You have no idea how excited we are to be nominated for this project!!!
We made this video as an homage to the band’s home city; Richmond, Virginia. There is a lot of history here and a lot of historical places were featured in this video; the Richmond Slave Trail; the Jackson Ward neighborhood that was once called the “Harlem of The South”; St. John’s Church in where Virginia’s first and sixth governor Patrick Henry gave his famous “..but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!” speech; Richmond’s “Crossroads” of bridged railroad tracks; …I could go on and on and on but in short, this is all about the downtown area of Richmond, Virginia and The James River!
THANK YOU’s to Keith Ramsey of Ramsey Art Works for working with us to help create this vision, along with BJ Brown, Eddie B and Royce Folks for the video footage. This couldn’t have happened without the music from our 2017 recording session at Ardent Studios with Ari Morris assisted by Calvin Lauber engineering this original track written by JohnJason Cecil, Wynton Davis, Royce Folks and Brad Moss; THANK YOU all for making the music do what it do! And a Big THANK YOU to Kenya Watkins for making sure it all happened/ happens! And to Betsie Brown and Blind Raccoon, we appreciate your confidence in us to put your name behind our work; it seems the people are listening and hearing us, THANK YOU!!!
