Danny at The Alternate Root Magazine says,

The Bush League have never been shy about letting you know they play the Blues. Over the course of albums, the Virginia-based band has steadily set their music to stir and sizzle. On Didn’t See This Coming, The Bush League make sure there are no doubts. The album is live and electric….very electric with the massive bellow of vocals coming from JohnJason (JohnJay) Cecil and the bass thump of Royce Folks. Two guitars (Michael Burgess and Brad Moss) and drum (Wynton Davis) fill out the lineup. Didn’t See This Coming puts the hammer down for the ladies who look so good, promising to “Take You Out”, uses razors for guitar picks to turn the crank on “Hearse”, and cruises to a roll to watch “Can of Gas and a Match” catch a slow burn. The Bush League capture the live sound of Didn’t See This Coming with such force you can almost feel the heat from the amps as the band try to melt gear with speed riffed rock’n’roll boogie to “Kick Up Your Heel”, use a Blues crawl to demand “Give Me My Money”, and carve their name into the ozone layer with Muddy Waters “Mannish Boy”.
